Congratulations to our Vice President of Business Development Dana Abernathy, CMB, for being honored with the Virginia Mortgage Bankers Association’s (VMBA) inaugural Compass Award! She was presented with the award at VMBA’s Annual Convention on September 11, 2025.
The Compass Award recognizes an individual who exemplifies guidance, leadership, and direction within the mortgage industry. Like a compass, the honoree provides clarity, mentorship, and vision to help others chart their course, even in times of change or challenge.
No one could be more fitting. Dana has been a vital resource in developing and launching VMBA’s Future Leaders Program. She has also played an instrumental role in launching leadership development programs for other state and regional mortgage banking associations, personally sponsoring scores of Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) candidates, and serving as a trusted mentor to so many in our industry.
This award is especially meaningful to Dana, as Virginia is where she first launched her career in mortgage banking—and where she met the mentors who guided her own journey.
